Krystel Liliana is an Ecuadorian artist that living in Barcelona. Her work moves between painting and diverse media exploring the transformation from image to object. We have fallen in love with Krystel's delicate and sculptural handmade candles and made a special collaboration together with Meritxell de Soto, performer, actress and model who develops all her work putting her own body at the center of her practice. Krystel has created unique candles as gifts for our orders and Meritxell de Soto wrote a very dedicated ritual to accompany the moment of lighting the candle that we propose to be at the dinner on 31th, the last day of the year.
Magical burning
Some magical steps for you to light and be lit by your new heart candle companion:
Please make sure to find a non inflammable surface where she can stand tall and safe. An unused tile, a flat stone, small piece of marble or similar would do. The surface needs to be bigger than the candle so it can catch any falling wax/flame coming out. This is not your regular burning candle <3
Touch your candle and if soft/mushy you can put it in the fridge (an hour or two would do) for her to rebuild her strength. Then take it out and let her sit outside the fridge for a while before you light it so it’s not humid either.
So now place it in the chosen base by melting the bottom with a lighter/match as you would do with any candle. She is thin but not fragile, so when you see she’s not moving to the sides and standing confident you’re ready to go
Now take your time to light it and enjoy the sound of your lighter or matches as this is the start of your ritual.
Besides safety, the main purpose is just to watch her melt magically by looking and feeling the flames. We are not used to sit and watch fire and it was believed to be a gift of the gods, a bridge between heaven and earth ❦❦
So enjoy this sacred moment looking at her go until the last flame extinguishes and you’re feeling magically filled and loved
